The Imperium Needs You! Do you want to serve your Emperor like every real man should? Join the Explorator Corps! See distant stars! Visit distant planets! Risk a serious goring from resident wildlife! Be eaten by cannibal natives! Draw, write and submit reports on what you find on them! Report back here with details of interests, skills and hobbies at the service of your Emperor!

Oh, that's brilliant...I love it...equally, I would hope that the distant planet would be this one, most of the time...

Umm...well...yeah, me too. Though minor reports on nearby trade planets and mining colonies on the other planets in the system are welcome.
Edit: I was thinking of either lengthy communiques between the explorator unit and their base, propoganda brochures to encourage business development, or scientific studies performed by Adepts of various colleges of the Mechanicus. These are the ideal but by no means only, format I was thinking of. Assuming the Dark Magents publishing goes haead, they would be perfect page breakers, or outros, for an article. Stormturmoil's pieces are pretty much what I envisioned for teh scientific studies, with a little introduction and ending added on to place the official report-style atmosphere.

Yes...what sort of format were you thinking of? The sort of thing Stormturmoil's been doing, or something else? (or several things?)

It strikes me that this kind of thing would be an excellent source of things for us to be submitting to Dark Magenta for them to spread about-teaser pieces about aspects of outr world that can get their readers hooked

Very true - good idea - if we can get a good few together in time, what might work is if an introduction in the manner Derek's suggested (some discussions as to what started the project, the inspirations and the aims, that sort of thing) to act as a sort of frontpiece, and then those as a sort of teaser....and then we could start with the articles next week...hmmmm...I might start on a little one tonight...

We can do all kinds of things with people saying stuff like "I will try to capture one of these "adamantodons." Expect another message soon." and finish the piece with "No more messages receved from Explorer ZZ plural Z alpha. However, remains matching his DNA were found in a one-mile radius in the jungle."

It is an official call for completed prose contributions to the project, by me. Doug, that sounds brilliant- I was hoping someone, or a few people, would volunteer to do a study of one or two tribes, and briefly summarise their structure as a culture. With you a a leader, we can hope for a decent civilisation to emerge from the undergrowth. I should point out that this is a chance to create your own tribe, which can have customs, ranks, prejudices and religions all defined by you. Doesn't it sound fun? Doesn't everyone just wanna contribute a tribe?

Well, thinking on it, if we're to submit a few of these to DM as tasters, we probably want:
-a couple on the physical state of the planet (pretty much done already) -a couple dealing with the tribes, etc -perhaps one dealing with planetary govt, in some form which could be workable in a short space - perhaps minutes/a trascript from a senate meeting -an overview or two of a couple of hive bergs - their society, structure, everything in brief -and perhaps a sort of Administratum data sheet thing (like those prvided in the Inquisitor conspiracies books - I'l happily do this one, at least) -any others people can think of

The data sheet sounds interesting - I have none of teh conspiracy books, nor have I seen any. What is on the sheets? The rest of the ideas sound pretty good.
Edit: Excellent - nice one Doug.

Well, they start off with stuff like tithe grade, and physical stats on the planet - size, orbit distance, etc...
Then there's a brief paragraph on the Founding...then Notable Historic Events...then notable Features...then Past Inquisitorial Involvement...the Unsubstantiated Data...tell you what, I'll do a little mock up sometime in the next 24-48 hours, and post it up...

right, sounds good, though people should try and stick to stuff we already have a good idea of what we want for, such as hive-berg society, tribes and their religions and such-like.
I have an urge to sit on photoshop doodeling crap for this just now, so i shall let loose the tablet and start up photoshop and see if I can craft anything useful.
Additionally, if we are to do a prelude article with teasers, then perhaps the new-release teaser images GW does (the four square images not showing much more than tanalising glimpses) - infact we could stick that at the end of each article to tease people with what will be in the next issue. I shall do a quick diagramatic explaination if you give me a sec...
PS, don't expect to continue our email planning tonight Doug, i feel too lazy to be trying to firgure out relationship three different maps of London...

Fair enough - though to be fair, all three maps show pretty much the same thing, if they're the ones I'm thinking of...
And good idea on the images - enjoy doodling!
