Well...as far as I can tell, it's become generally accepted that, at some point when this is done, we'd like to get this published in a series of articles in Dark Magenta. As such, I took it upon myself (I know I probably shouldn't have done without asking whether people here wanted me to, but then again, it's done now...) to ask the God Editor of Magentakind (also known as Derek and Saussure by some more devious heretics... ) how he felt about it. I also put across a couple of suggestions for how we might submit it - either in its complete form, whereupon the staff could break it up as they pleased, or as a series of articles starting with an introduction, which we submitted in order as they were completed.
He sent this message in reply:
"Douglas,
Personally, if we were publishing an "Adventurescape" article, I'd quite like to see it being something like the Campaign sourcebooks, with both background, personalities and scenarios. Ideally, a few converted models and scenery pieces would be accompany these.
Putting it over a several articles would be fine - the first could include some discussions as to what started the project, the inspirations and the aims, followed by an overview of the Adventurescape. The second could get more specific with people and places, but I think it would be quite nice to start including some "gaming" material by the second or third installment, to keep it hobby related. Subsequent articles could layer on the detail in all areas, and continue to provide additional scenario and campaign ideas.
Submitting the first article in a near-complete form, along with an outline of the next 2-3 articles, would seem like a good iea to convince other editors of the worth of the piece. However, the EIC likes the concept ;-)
Cheers,
D."
So, there you go. Rather helpful, I thouught - it tells us what we need to do in his eyes to get it published, and how we might submit it.
Any thoughts? I'm rather in favour of submitting articles as they are completed, in the manner he suggested for that option - it would allow us to get something out into the public much sooner, and help spread word of the project a little. What do other people think?
